Glebe Farm Are now offering the following British Horse Society training courses-
BHS STAGE TWO TRAINING
Horse Knowledge, Care & Ride Sections.
13-week Evening Class - may be split, into Horse Care & Ride sections if required.
BHS Stage 2 – Riding
Starting on 10th March 2009 – 6.00pm to 6.45pm. - £ 275.00
The course will cover appropriate exercises for riding correct school movements in walk, trot and canter - with and without stirrups - with an independent seat showing rhythm and balance when working on the flat and over a course of jumps. Video sessions and classroom discussion will enable riders to embraces a different aspect of their riding improvements.
BHS Stage 2 – Horse Knowledge and Care
Starting on 10th March 2009 – 7.00pm – 8.30pm - £234.00
This course will help prepare you for the second of the professional qualifications within the BHS examination structure. The course explains in greater detail the standard topics of Horse Care Management, with additional topic for Anatomy, Physiology, Fittening and the Lunge practical.
Those wishing to take the exam at the end of the course must be current members of the BHS and be over 16 years old. You also must have passed your BHS Stage 1 in full, or S/NVQ Level 2 or 3 - and achieved the BHS Riding and Road Certificate. Copies of the full syllabus are available from the BHS.
BHS STAGE ONE TRAINING
Horse Knowledge, Care & Ride Sections

BHS Stage 1 – Riding
Starting on 10th March 2009 – 6.00pm to 6.45pm. - £ 234.00
The course will cover riding in a correct balanced position in walk, trot and canter and riding with and without stirrups. You will be taught to recognise correct trot diagonals and canter leads and to ride simple school movements accurately, plus working over poles in a jumping position in walk and trot. There will also be video sessions and discussion in the classroom to enable riders to embraces a different aspect of their riding improvements.
BHS Stage 1 – Horse Knowledge and Care
Starting on 10th March 2009 – 7.00pm – 8.30pm - £195.00
This course will help prepare you for your first of the professional qualifications, and we also recommend it for those owners and riders keen to gain a wealth of knowledge about the care and welfare of horses. Plus it highlights how to act safely around our equine friends.
Those wishing to take the exam at the end of the course must be current members of the BHS and be over 14 years old. Copies of the full syllabus are available direct from the British Horse Society.
BHS RIDING AND ROAD SAFETY - 4 DAY WEEKEND AND EXAM COURSE
4 DAY COURSE FRIDAY through to MONDAY – EXAM ON MONDAY
3 days of 4 hour training – plus the exam on the final day.
Glebe Farm is organising Riding & Road Safety Training & exam in a “four day" course. The course will be run by an accredited BHS “R&RS” Trainer. Come and train in a friendly environment and ride the horse you will have for your exam - or if your horse is suitable, bring your own and use him for the training and the exam!
The BHS Riding and Road Safety Test is taken by over 4,000 candidates a year and helps to educate riders in road safety in order to minimise the risk involved when riding on the roads. Training is available to all riders from 12 years of age and the test is supported by the DETR. It is the only test that any rider will undertake that has the potential to save not only their own life but that of their horse as well.
